The wonders of yoga have woven their way through my life for the past 40-plus years, but it was at my first Moksha class in 2006 when I knew I had discovered something truly extraordinary. The challenge of the posture sequences, the intensity of the heat, and the welcoming and comfortable atmosphere of the studio, all balanced perfectly upon a strong and nurturing community foundation. Here, I found my oasis.

In November of that same year, personal tragedy rocked my world to its roots, and the subsequent struggle to regain my footing has been enormous and at times, seemingly impossible. My hot yoga practice offered me serenity and gentle support and plays an integral part in my ongoing healing process that continues to this day.

I joined the Energy Exchange (Trade) Program because I wanted to delve deeper into the amazing community I had found. Then, with the encouragement of my family and my friends, I travelled on my own to Kerala, India in February 2010 where I proudly completed the 4-week Intensive Moksha (now Modo) Teacher Training Program. From there, I travelled north to explore the spiritually rich ancient city of Varanasi on the River Ganges, the colourful and enchanting capital of Delhi, and the awe-inspiring Taj Mahal. It was my first solo trip anywhere. And what a remarkable chapter it was for me.

Upon my return from this remarkable life experience, I was over-the-moon to join the teaching crew of Modo Yoga London (now Elements). Three years later, I completed the Modo Flow Training in Montréal. In July of 2017 and 2019, I was blessed and honoured to experience Yin Teacher Trainings in California with Paul and Suzee Grilley. I have also completed Trauma-Informed Yoga Training.

Beyond yoga, I find pleasure in reading (ravenously!), travelling, foreign and indie films, and walking along the water’s edge in my lakeside village.

Modo Yoga London has been my foundation through a life-changing journey and experience towards wellness. I have been a part of the Modo Community since 2015, starting out by practicing as a student and a volunteer through the Energy Exchange Program at both studios.

In July 2019, I travelled to Kelowna, B.C. to complete the amazing 4-week Modo Yoga Teacher Training Program. This step in my journey was a profound experience that pushed me emotionally, physically and mentally. I am so very grateful to have had the opportunity to strengthen my practice so that I may be able to share the practice of yoga with others.

I believe that practicing yoga can be a form of peaceful social activism. When you come to your mat you can cultivate peace and empowerment within. You are then able to go out into the world and have a profound impact on others and the environment. This ultimately makes the world a better place for all.

I am so excited to lead you through the Modo sequence, and I am filled with gratitude to share with you the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of yoga.

I completed my Modo teacher certification in Montréal in 2018. Years ago, when I rooted myself in that special room while lying in Savasana I knew instantly this would be a tremendous part of my “now life” and how I look at this world. Moreover, the importance of it. The practice and the art of yoga became my passion: an ongoing learning journey that is much more than just a pose. It is the connection of life on earth and how we live it today. This practice is a confirmation that there is so much beauty found in the simplicity of just knowing how to connect.

In 2021, I added Modo Flow training to my learning experience.

As a lifelong student and as a mother, I have found that Modo Yoga has made life simple, beautiful, and healthy in every possible way. It has made silence into music. My heart becomes so warm when I invite you to come practice your breath with me.

My love for yoga began on shaky legs in 2004. I had made plans with a friend to meet for the Sunday morning class at the Downtown studio. I was quite nervous to go as I was imagining that I would be the only inflexible one in the room, and the fact that it was hot yoga (!) made it seem all the more daunting. The moment of truth descended on me as I realized that my friend was not coming (she had slept in) and I can honestly say that I almost turned around and left. I am so glad that I chose differently that fine Sunday morning. I stayed – and I fell in love with a practice that had seemingly been waiting for me all of my life.

After practicing regularly for the next two years, I enrolled in the 2006 Moksha Yoga Teacher Training in Thailand. It was a pivotal time in my life and I find that I am still reaping the benefits of having done that training. I taught regularly at the Downtown studio for a few years until the birth of my first son in 2009. At that time, I took a step back from regular teaching and went on to have another child and continued with my other work as a Registered Massage Therapist.

Over the years I have come into the studios from time to time to help facilitate special classes including restorative reiki and yoga nidra. Now, in 2021, I am so thrilled to be back on a regular teaching schedule with Modo – oh how I have missed this fabulous community!

I am positively fascinated with the mind-body connection, human psychology and the natural ability for our bodies to heal. I have a private practice at Priority Massage and Health in Wortley Village. My treatments are informed by the principles of Somatic Experiencing to treat acute and chronic pain. I also have an astrology business and enjoy offering readings to folks all over the country.

I am looking forward to spending quality healing time with you in the hot room! 🙂

I came to Modo Yoga London in 2007 seeking a physical challenge that would complement my vigorous skating training. Later, Modo became a lifeline when I needed emotional support during a difficult personal change in my life. As time unfolded, the Modo Community became a family for me: a home away from home, a safe place where I could feel comfortable with who I am.

In 2014, I travelled to Kelowna, British Columbia to take my Modo Yoga Level 1 Teacher Training. I am thrilled and honoured to be part of the teaching crew at Modo Yoga London and I hope to expand my horizons with future training in Modo Flow, Power, and Kids’ Yoga.

Beyond the hot room, I continue to skate, a pastime I started when I was 7 years old. Music also plays a huge part in my life, gravitating to the heart-pleasing sounds of my piano whenever I have a spare moment or two.

Exploring the global community lights a fire in me. I am actively involved with Habitat for Humanity in home-building projects in Zambia, travelling there in May 2018.

The world holds no barriers for me! I love to talk about my life-enriching experiences, so never hesitate to ask!

I began my yoga practice at Modo in 2013 with the Intro Month and then as part of the Energy Exchange Program. At the same time, I was enrolled at Fanshawe College for Fitness & Health Promotion with studies focused around anatomy/physiology, nutrition, exercise programming, hospitality and accessibility in the fitness industry. In 2017, I ventured west to Kelowna, B.C, for the month-long Modo (then Moksha) Level 1 teacher training.

Throughout this time I worked in the grounds department at local golf course and in 2019 I ventured to Guelph, Ontario to attend the Turf Managers’ Short Course certificate program. After working at several golf courses in the area, I have landed at Essex Golf & Country Club in Windsor, Ontario where I work as an Assistant Superintendent.

I have always had a passion for sport and exercise. My work life is greatly influenced by the weather and the changing seasons and the tasks can be physically demanding. The familiarity of the Modo sequence, the heat of the room and the guidance of so many great instructors helps me to rest, relax and recharge while exploring my body and mind (and hopefully channel that into better golf!)

See you on your mat!

My yoga journey started back in 2008. I played varsity volleyball when I was in college and then started playing in a men’s league once I graduated. After many years of sports without stretching properly, my body was pretty upset with me. I was trying to find something that would increase flexibility and help with injury recovery and prevention.

I was introduced to Moksha/Modo/Elements Downtown and tried out the One-Week Unlimited they had back in the day. Went to three or four classes that week and liked it, but wasn’t sure if it was my cup of tea (what was I thinking right?) Skip ahead 6 months and I was really struggling again with my body so I thought I would give this yoga thing one more try. I took a class led by a teacher I hadn’t had the first time around and something just clicked. From that day forward I was hooked. I had a regular practice for about a year and started to trade which led to wanting to know more about yoga, the body, and the series.

The next step was teacher training, with no intention of ever becoming an instructor, I went to Moksha Teacher Training 2012 in Montreal. I can honestly say to this day it is one of the best experiences of my life.

Coming home afterward, I wanted to receive my 500 hour-certification and in doing so had to practice teach. I didn’t speak much in front of people so still was not on my radar to teach but quickly learned it wasn’t as terrifying as I had created in my head.

I also added a few Yin trainings throughout the years, as I always enjoyed practicing Yin so I felt I would love teaching that style of yoga too.

With the support of my amazing yoga communities in London, Cambridge, KW, Stratford, Brampton, Barrie and Bracebridge I have been lucky to continue teaching for the past 12 years and when I have had gaps in teaching it really affects me and I miss it a lot.

When I’m not in the hot room, I am a sports fanatic and a big lover of music and reading. I am a proud father to two amazing kids and get to call Muskoka home where I have lived in Gravenhurst since 2015.

I am always hanging out after class so please come and chat any time.

See you at our safe place, Elements!!!!

When I walked into the Downtown studio the week it opened in 2003, I knew I was in the right place. I had been practicing yoga for a while; however, the hot room is where I truly felt at home. In 2009, I made the great decision to travel to India to take the Modo Yoga Foundational training which proved to be transformational.

I love teaching — being with students moving and breathing. I have done Baptiste Power training, Pre-Natal, Yin, Vipassana, Mindfulness, and Meditation. I weave yoga into my daily life.

I love to walk, read, and chat over a cup of tea!

I am hoping to have you join me in the hot room to practice, take time for you, and perhaps have a laugh as well.

My yoga journey began in 2010. At 15 years old I stepped into the hot room with the support of my mom and thought “my God it is hot in here!” At my young age, it took me a few classes to get used to it. But once I did, I was hooked! I followed yoga through my University years, travelling 30 minutes by bus to get to the closest hot yoga studio. Being far from home, experiencing loneliness and trying to find myself, yoga was there to ground me.

Getting my first job out of school, relocating to a small town where I knew no one and was struggling to keep my head up, the hot yoga studio down the street welcomed me with open arms. And later, when living in Toronto, I found my community by joining the energy exchange program. It brought me so much joy to take care of a studio that took such good care of me. To be a small part of something big.

It wasn’t until I moved back home in 2020 that I began tossing around the idea of teacher training. I loved yoga but could I really teach it? Cue the imposter syndrome! But I pushed past the fear and self doubt, hopping on a plane to Nicaragua in 2023 for my Modo Foundational Training. A life-changing experience to say the least. Leading people in movement and breath only made me want to learn more. So, I headed to Vancouver for my Yin training with Bernie Clarke.

Aside from yoga, my passion lies in music and songwriting. I love board games, mixing mocktails and watching the sunset down the street from my childhood home in Port Stanley! I enjoy hiking in nature, reading murder mystery books, and spending too much money at farmers markets.

Finding joy in the little things, that’s what it’s all about!

My yoga adventure began in 2010 when I attended my first class at the Downtown Studio. I had heard of yoga, but honestly did not think that it was the kind of practice that would interest me. Wow! Was I truly mistaken! I walked out of that first class feeling like I was two feet taller and had a connection with my breath like I never knew existed. Plus, I was super-chill. And so, as they say, the rest is history.

In 2023, I attended Modo Teacher Training in Nicaragua and am so happy that this dream finally became a reality. I am an accountant by day, so this adventure was outside of my comfort zone for sure. It’s amazing what we can accomplish when we challenge ourselves!

Outside of the studio, I have a passion for anything that involves bringing my dog along. So, camping, hiking, paddleboarding, walking, and reading, with Ridley by my side (and my husband too)!

I look forward to meeting many new faces and spreading the wellness benefits of yoga. There is simply nothing better than the union of breath, body, and mind.
